TERVETULOA TOUKOKUU / GREETINGS MAY!

Moi! Täällä odotellaan toukokuuta. Katselin eilen Englannin kuninkaallisia häitä Emännän kanssa ja taisin tirautaa pari kissankyyneltäkin.
Nyt odottelen toukokuuta lempiasennossani. Munkit ja sima odottavat jo pöydällä. Juhlat käyntiin!

Hi again! I am eagerly waiting for May. I spent yesterday watching the Royal Wedding with the Mistress of the House and I may even have shed a few kitty-cat tears.
Now I am waiting for tomorrow and May in my favourite position. The doughnuts and mead are on the table. Let's get the party started!

Yes, it is me, the Black one! I am enjoying the warmth of the spring and Easter. And when I am not relaxing under the table I play with funny little toys that have been inside Easter eggs. I just like the toys not the chocolate.

And Maria and the boys were absolutely right. First I was an octopus that was stuck under the table and then I was presenting all my glory to the whole world in a car-mechanic position. Your prize wll be four unopened Easter eggs. Thank you for solving my very first puzzle!

KEVÄT / SPRING TIME

Kevät on vihdoin täällä. En ole leiponut gluteenittomasti viikkoihin, lukeminenkin on hetkeksi laantunut ja tuumailen illat ja viikonloput pihalla kevään merkkejä ihastellen. Tänään hakkasin lumikinoksia - SIIS KYLLÄ! meillä on vieläkin kinoksia pihassa - rautalapiolla ja haravoin lumet pensaiden juureen. Siitä ei varmaan ole mitään hyötyä, mutta on lumi ainakin osittain poissa silmistä. Kaivelin kukkapenkeistä männynneulasia ja tutkin jäniksen syömiä syreenejä. Tämän tytön sydämen on täyttänyt KEVÄT.

IN ENGLISH:

Spring is finally here. I haven't baked gluten free for weeks, have even taken a break from reading and spend my evenings and weekends pottering around the garden looking at tiny little signs of spring. Today I have been smashing snow and ice - YES! we still have big piles of snow in our garden - with a shovel and then I pushed the snow under the bushes. It probably doesn't help at all but at least some of the snow is hidden away. In addition I have been picking pine needles from flowerbeds and wondering what to do with the lilacs that have been eaten by hares. My heart is filled with SPRING.

PIKAINEN VIESTI / A QUICK NOTE

Pippurikauraleipä ei sitten ollutkaan hullumpaa. Jopa Aviomies tykkäsi. Jatkan siis kokkailua ja koheltamista...

IN ENGLISH: The gluten free bread with black pepper wasn't too bad after all. Even the Hubbylicious liked it. Thus, I will keep on baking and making a mess....

VOI EI! / NOT AGAIN!

Olen aikaisemminkin valitellut kuinka gluteeniton leivonta on vaikeaa. Tällä kertaa voi kokki vain katsoa itseensä. Leivoin takuuvarmaa gluteenitonta kauraleipää kaupan paketista. Luin samalla mainoslehteä, jossa oli leivän päällä unikonsiemeniä. Päätin koristella oman leipänikin unikonsiemienillä. Ripottelin leivälle runsaasti unikonsiemeniä kunnes huomasin, että levittelin tyytyväisenä mustapippuria. AAAAAAARGH! Onko siellä muita, joille joskus edes käy näin?

Kohta laitan pippurileivän uuniin. Sitä ei varmaan syö harakatkaan, mutta kokeillaan...

IN ENGLISH:

I have previously complained about the difficulties of gluten free baking. This time I am the only one to blame. I baked dead easy gluten free bread from a box. At the same time I was looking at some ads in a paper and noticed a baguette with lots of poppy seeds on top. Decided I wanted the same on my bread and started sprinkling poppy seeds on the bread - generously. After a while I noticed I had covered my bread with black pepper. AAAAAARGH! Am I the only one making such silly mistakes over and over again?

I will soon start baking the bread. I don't think anyone should eat it but I'll try....

LUKUTOUKKAILUA / BOOKWORM DAYS

Taisin ampua yli selvitellessäni kolmikymppisten lontoolaisten ongelmia lukemalla vähän liian monta Lisa Jewellin kirjaa peräkkäin. Alkoi jo tuntua, että tätä ongelmien sarjaa ei tämä flikka jaksa enää yhtään.

Joten vaihdoin John Grishamiin ja luin The Confession -kirjan ja nautin siitä todella paljon, sillä en ollut lukenut Grishamin kirjoja aikoihin. Kirja oli ajatuksia herättävä ja lukemista oli mahdotonta lopettaa kun olin päässyt alkuun.

Nyt olen taas palannut brittikirjallisuuden pariin ja luen David Nichollsin One Day –kirjaa. Toistaiseksi hyvä, lisää myöhemmin…

IN ENGLISH:

I think I may have gone overboard with the problems of 30-something Londoners. I have read three books by Lisa Jewell in a short period of time and have now decided to take a break from this genre. There is only so much a girl can take!

So to get away from the 30-something Londoners I read The Confession by John Grisham and enjoyed the read because it was so different from what I had read for a while. I like Grisham because the topics in his books are always thought-provoking.

Grisham did the trick and now I am reading One Day by David Nicholls. It may be about Londoners again but so far so good…

TUHMELIINI /NAUGHTY

Olen ollut tuhmeliini. Otin päivänokoset emännän Puhtaiden Pyykkien Korissa. Ajattelin, että nyt löytyi mukava ja pehmoinen paikka nokosille. Asettauduin hyvään asentoon ja nukahdin ja ei aikaakaan kun edessäni seisoi hölmistynyt emäntä, suu auki, mutta ääntä ei tullut. En empinyt hetkeäkään, vaan mennä kipitin karkuun... On se kumma kun tässä talossa ei saa nukkua rauhassa!

 
IN ENGLISH:
I have been naughty. I took a nap in the Basket of Clean Laundry. I thought I had found a perfect place for an afternoon nap, nice and soft and warm too. I had just relaxed and fallen asleep when I suddenly woke up with the Mistress in front of me with a surprised look on her face and with her mouth wide open but no sound coming from her mouth.
I didn't stay there to see if she had anything to say, just ran away as quickly as I could...
I find it really annoying that you can't even take a nap in peace and quiet in this household!
