ENGLANTILAINEN MÖYKKYKAKKU / ENGLISH APPLE CAKE

Englantilainen möykkykakku

Leivoin tätä kakkua joskus aikoinaan ennen keliakiaa. Päätin kokeilla uudelleen ja samanlainen möykkyhän siitä tuli ja maistuu hyvältä…

2½dl jyttejauhoja

1½ tl leivinjauhetta

ripaus suolaa

100g margariinia

225g kuorittuja ja paloiteltuja omenoita

100g sokeria

2 munaa

Mittaa kulhoon jauhot, leivinjauhe ja suola. Lisää margariinia ja nypi kuivat aineet ja margariini muruiksi. Lisää omenat ja vähän sitruunamehua. Sekoita munat ja lisää taikinaan. Sekoita taikina huolellisesti esimerkiksi puukauhalla.

Voitele vuoka ja levitä taikina vuokaan. Taputtele pinta tasaiseksi.

Paista 180 asteessa 50 minuuttia tai vähän alle. Sekoita 3 rkl sitruunamehua ja 2 rkl sokeria. Kun olet ottanut kakun uunista kaada sitruunasokeriliemi kakun päälle ja anna sen valua kakun läpi. Anna kakun jäähtyä ja nautiskele teekupin kera…

IN ENGLISH:

English Apple Cake

225g gluten free flour
1½ tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
100g butter
225g peeled, cored and chopped apples
100g sugar
2 eggs

Put the flour, the baking powder and the salt into a bowl. Rub in the butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add the chopped apples and a squeeze of lemon juice as well as the sugar. Beat the eggs and add into the mixture. Stir to make a firm dough.

Pack the dough into a buttered cake tin. Smooth over the top with a knife.
Bake in 180 centigrade for approximately 50 minutes.

While the cake is in the oven mix together 3 tbsp lemon juice and 2 tbsp sugar. As soon as the cake comes out of the oven, pour the mixture on the cake and let is seep through. Enjoy.

VIELÄ ON KESÄÄ JÄLJELLÄ / THE SUMMER ISN'T OVER YET

Asia vain nyt on niin, että lomat on lomailtu, mutta kesä toivottavasti jatkuu vielä vähän aikaa. Parasta tässä kesässä on ollut kiirettömyys ja rentous. On ollut aikaa vain olla ja nauttia.

IN ENGLISH:

The fact is that the carefree days are coming to an end but that doesn't have to mean that the summer is over too. Hopefully we still have a few summer days left. The best things about this summer have been the peacefulness and the relaxation. There has been time to  enjoy the summer and take it easy.

Ikimuistoisia päiviä ovat olleet kaksi retkeä Svedjehamniin. Kotiseudultakin voi löytää joitain uutta. Uusia maisemia, leippoisaa yhdessäoloa ja mustikoita. Tässä oivat rakennuspalikat mainiolle lomapäivälle.

IN ENGLISH:

Two days that will stay in mind are the trips to Svedjehamn. It just shows that you can find interesting places to visit quite locally. New scenery, relaxing time together with friends and blueberries. These are excellent building blocks to charming summer days.

Kesäpäiviä vietettiin myös pappi Jaakopin jalanjäljillä. Kauniin elokuvan maisemissa vierailu johti uusiin löytöihin ja kivikirkkoja löytyi enemmän kuin etsittiin.

IN ENGLISH:

Summer days were also spent following the steps of Father Jacob. Inspired by the movie and visiting the church that was portrayed in the movie, we found more stone churches that we thought we would.

Ja kissoilla on tietenkin ollut kissanpäivät. Tiukka komento siitä, että kissoilla ei ole asiaa sänkyyn ei ole mennyt perille ja aamulla on löytynyt kissa tai kaksi köllöttelemästä vuoteesta. Takaoveen tehty verkko-ovi on ilahduttanut kissaherroja koko kesän ja pojat ovat melkein jo maistaneet lintujen pyrstösulat suussaan.

IN ENGLISH:

And the cats have spent their summer doing things that only cats can do. The strict rules of no cats in bed have been ignored by the cats and nearly every morning there has been one or two furry friends fast asleep in the bed. The screen door at the back of the house has been a delight to two indoor cats for the whole summer and on many occasion they have nearly tasted the back feathers of little birds in their mouths.

Pikainen viesti Mustalta:

Kerronpa vaan sulle, että tuo Emäntä yritti viedä mua eläinlääkärille rokotuksille, mutta kyllä pistin hanttiin. Ei saanut emäntä mua kantolaatikkoon vaikka kuinka yritti ja lopuksi se pönkäsi itsensä pihalle ilman avaimia. Kyllä meitä kissoja nauratti. No, parin päivän kuluttua se yritti uudestaan ja annoin periksi ja kävin siellä lääkärillä, mutta olisin kyllä voinut sabotoida tämän toisenkin reissun jos olisin halunnut. Tällänen mä oon, arvoituksellinen ja ovela!

A quick note from the Black one:

I just want to tell you that the other day the Mistress of the House tried to take me to the vet for a flu injection but I didn't feel like it so I made a terrible mess and wouldn't go into the basket and eventually she got so frustrated she locked herself outdoors without keys. You should have seen how I and the Colourful one laughed. A couple of days later I went to the vet still reluctantly but I could have sabotaged that trip too. That's me; mysterious and cunning!
